Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program
A partnership between BC Hydro, BC Ministry of Environment and Fisheries & Oceans Canada to conserve and enhance fish and wildlife populations affected by BC Hydro dams in the Columbia Basin of southeastern British Columbia. A major funder of the Ecosystem Restoration Program in the Rocky Mountain Trench.

 Columbia Basin Trust
A regional corporation created by provincial legislation in 1995 to work with residents of the Canadian Columbia Basin to promote social, economic and environmental well-being in the region most affected by dam construction from the Columbia River Treaty.

 Rocky Mountain Forest District
Includes links to an Ecosystem Restoration page and the East Kootenay Vegetation Data Library, a downloadable collection of historic and current scientific papers concerned with range and restoration issues in the Rocky Mountain Trench.

The human and natural history of the Columbia Basin presented by the Columbia Basin Trust and Royal British Columbia Museum. A fascinating and eclectic collection, worth exploring.


 Grasslands Conservation Council of British Columbia
A strategic alliance of organizations and individuals that share a common commitment to education, conservation and stewardship of BC's grasslands.

 The Nature Trust of British Columbia
A charitable corporation dedicated to conserving areas of ecological significance in BC. Since 1971, the Nature Trust and its partners have acquired 61,000 hectares of land, including the 4,000 hectare Hoodoos Property in the East Kootenay.

 Society for Range Management
The professional scientific society and conservation organization concerned with studying, conserving, managing and sustaining the varied resources of the rangelands which comprise nearly half the land in the world. Established in 1948, SRM has over 4,000 members in 48 countries, including many developing nations. The SRM's Pacific Northwest Section includes the Rocky Mountain Trench.


 Columbia Mountains Institute of Applied Ecology
A non-profit society dedicated to facilitating applied ecological research in southeastern BC and to making this information available to managers, resource technicians, scientists, and the public.

Forest Extension Research Partnership FORREX
A non-profit society dedicated to promoting - through extension and research - healthy and sustainable ecosystems throughout the interior of BC. Available online are current and back issues of Link, the Forrex newsletter, which contain articles about fire-maintained ecosystems. The British Columbia Journal of Ecosystems and Management (JEM) is an electronic journal published by Forrex to provide a forum for information that supports sustainable management of BC's ecosystems. Natural Resources Information Network (NRIN) is a comprehensive online source of information on natural resources.
